Nagbe’s Wonder Goal

Do we have ourselves another candidate for goal of the year? I think we do. Darlington Nagbe, the second overall pick this year in the draft, unleashed a rocket from the top of the 18 yard box in Portland’s 2-1 loss to Kansas City last night. This goal was not just a volley but a juggling showcase by Nagbe, which he eventually volleyed and screamed by the goal keeper into the upper 90. If you don’t believe me, see for yourself in this video from MLSsoccer:

Unfortunately, this goal was the only high point in a game that Portland would end up losing. Even John Spencer called it a goal of the year candidate, but how does it fair against Graham Zusi’s goal, Carlos Ruiz’s goal, or even Eric Hassli’s goal? We will just have to wait and see I guess. Portland will need more of these goals in order to grab a final playoff spot.
