MLS First Kick Recap and CCL Semis Recap

Here is my weekend predictions and my recap of games during the week this post will most likely come out every Friday while my Power Rankings will come out every Monday so be prepared for some MLS coverage. Here is my first predictions of the weekend and recaps. Most likely I will only recap games I have watched because it’s not right to judge unless you watch it right?

MLS First Kick Recap: LA Galaxy 1    Seattle Sounders 0, This game had some early season jitter bugs but there was some good play in the second half. In the first half Seattle seemed to have the upperhand in possesion but lacked the control and composure in the first half to find the net. Fredy Montero had an early rip from around thirty yards out that was saved by Josh Saunders who had a great game. Seattle used their width early with Fernandez and Zakuani but could not connect with O’Brien White and Fredy Montero. Similarly, LA had great width with Beckham and Donovan but didn’t seem to show any fire power with Chad Barrett and Mike Magee. Friberg showed promise in the first half but that quickly faded in the second half where he seemed to disappear from the action. Juninho of LA played strong throughout the game but had to carry the weak play of Birchall at some points in the second half where he made several silly mistakes. LA’s defense seemed quick and disrubted everything for Montero. O’Brian had a great opportunity to even the scoreline but pushed it just wide. Juninho’s strike would end up being the only goal in this one and Josh Saunders great play would grab this team the 3 points.

Goals: Juninho 58′

Player of the Game: Josh Saunders of LA = Gave this team a clean sheet with two great saves late but was also on top of his game all night.

CCL Quick Recap: Saprissa 0   Real Salt Lake 2 Although Real Salt Lake was robbed of an early goal by Nat Borchers, Saborio was able to get the goal back with a great turn from Williams pass and a quick shot into the low corner of the net. Salt Lake had the upperhand in possession in the first half and took it to the this quick Saprissa team. Beckerman and Morales along with Williams won a lot of tackles in the middle and would turn them into great chances for Salt Lake. There dominance in the middle of the park would help Real Salt Lake somewhat dominate this team in possession. Saprissa had several chances in the second half but could not find the final tough in the final third. Espindola would finish them off in the fifty-six minute with a great individual effort and a great through ball pass from Andy Williams.

Goals: Saborio 9′ … Espindola 56′

Player of the Game: Andy Williams of Real Salt Lake = Great provider during this game. The offense flowed through him.
